By Stephen Twomey

Managing a remote digital marketing team is tricky. Why? You can’t have a physical interaction with your working team unless you’re working with them in a physical office. However, there are ways you can make your workers highly valuable. The most important thing here is to have a deep understanding on how to apply the available ways to achieve success.

Maximizing productivity is the key factor to scaling an efficient and effective business. That’s why there’s a need to have a proven project management tool. This tool must incorporate everything that would bring in the expected results. Now, let’s dissect and discuss these easy but effective ways in managing remote digital marketers. Below are the best cloud storage providers you can use to become productive.

Google Drive

If you’re familiar with Google Drive, this is one of the best cloud storage services to apply for the digital marketing workers to become effective in their work. Uploading photos, documents and other files can be done in a smooth way using this. Try to imagine the 15GB free space it provides to its users. It’s fantastically huge. Having such free space is awesome because the digital workers can upload very large files.

You only have to have a Google account. Then go to drive.google.com by using your personal account. Once there, the documents, photos, and videos related to the digital tasks can be uploaded. Then, another interesting aspect with this storage service is that it has the so-called built-in office suite. There, you can edit your files, like documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. Drive also has a large collection of extra applications from third-party sources that are able to send documents through fax machines.

It is important for you to know that you can download the drive’s desktop app for Mac and PC. This way, it is easy to manage the work files from a particular computer. Once you have the app, organizing all of your files in the desktop app will be simple and the files will be synced with the cloud. Wherever you are, you can access and use the synced files.

Dropbox

This is one of the most popular cloud storage providers currently. Dropbox has a lot of benefits for the users. In managing a remote digital team, this cloud-based file manager is helpful. Most digital marketers use this because it’s reliable and easy to set up. It only takes a few ticks of the clock for someone to understand how it works. Its application is wider because it can be used in Mac, Windows and Linux, and even in mobile-based gadgets that are iOS, Android, BlackBerry and Kindle Fire.

Can any file be stored in Dropbox? Yes! Any file can be uploaded using this cloud-based file storage interface. There are two options when uploading work files, like documents. First, a digital worker can go to Dropbox’ website and upload from there. Second, the files can also be uploaded through the desktop or mobile app. It can seamlessly work for any digital marketer because of its reliability and user-friendliness.

OneDrive

OneDrive is known as Microsoft’s storage option. It is quite important to note this is available already in Windows Operating Systems 8 and 10. But, this can also be downloaded if you’re using Mac and the earlier versions of Windows.

The good news is that you can upload or store work-related files here. Such files, like videos and photos, and documents are important to your daily digital work. By using this storage method, managing digital projects would be a lot easier. The biggest benefit of this cloud-based storage is that it works with all Microsoft Office apps, like Word, Excel and PowerPoint, to name a few. You’ll then see that the recent documents will be saved to OneDrive after you launch the application.

The most interesting thing here is that you can collaborate with the digital team in real time once you have an Office 365 subscription. Instantly, you’ll be able to see the editing and modifications every time the people in your digital circle make any changes. However, there’s only a 5GB free space for the users of an unpaid (free) Microsoft account.

Box

Signing up an account through Box is free. The list of features contained in this option is designed for entrepreneurs, IT experts, and any other digital marketers. Any kind of file can be stored in any Box account. Your colleagues will be notified when you share your file then they can view it and leave comments. Whenever a change is made, a notification will be sent to the team members.

It’s interesting to use this particular storage option because you can have the control over your private files. The documents, photos, and even videos uploaded in your account will be controlled. It means you can choose who among your colleagues will know and see them.

For business users who manage a remote digital marketing team, they can also connect to other applications, like Salesforce and NetSuite. Documents can be saved to Box while connected to any of those apps. Plug-ins are also available for Microsoft Office to let people open, read and edit files saved there.

Skype

Using Skype is also encouraged when handling a remote digital marketing team. This is one of the most popular communication tools that business people in this world are using every single day of their business operation. Skype does have a lot of benefits. You can have conversations using IM, voice call, or video calls. Then you’ll be able to find out if your contacts or digital workers are also available online. The users can have a simultaneous work-related meeting and even presentation. Aside from chatting and video calls, the users can forward or send files, may they be documents, voice or video files.

Again, having an effective project management tool is quite important in running digital tasks with your remote team. The main point is that you’re given an opportunity to choose the best cloud-based file storage service that will make your management simple and easy. Any of the given choices will lead you to success once your team will work together for a particular cause

These are great Cloud Storages! The only problem I have had is having an account in 2-3 different clouds. But my solution was using an app called Topdox. It simply connected the clouds and file servers into a single app, for easy accessibility. Also, it allows the user to open their files either with Office 365 or Google Docs.
