Although hard work is important, following this principle has led entrepreneurs to neglect their health and well-being. In a cruel case of irony, this disregard will eventually earn them missed workdays spent recuperating in bed from stress-related illnesses.

1. Practice Clean Eating

An unhealthy diet could lead to you feeling drowsy throughout the day and thus hindering productivity. Eating balanced meals will supply your body with all the nutrients you need to keep you energized.

The following are some ways you can ensure that your eating habits are clean.

Plan Meals

Instead of consuming three large meals a day or eating unhealthy snacks, try frequently eating small healthy meals. The constant intake of these nutritious ingredients will keep energy levels up and curb hunger.

If your office has unhealthy snacks then you can replace them with healthier options. Although this is a more expensive investment, your firm will reap the benefits of increased productivity of healthier workers.

Eat More Fruits and Vegetables

According to Harvard’s School of Public Health, consuming fruit and vegetables lowers elevated blood pressure, reduces chances of heart disease and stroke, stabilizes blood sugar and improves digestive health.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggests that mildly active adults should eat 1-1.5 cups of fruit and 2-3 cups of vegetables every day.

Introduce Variety into your Diet

Set aside time for fun projects like reading or listening to audiobooks, music or take up a course. This will also help you view your business from a different angle and help you tackle problems better.

Working 24/7 will cause burnout and ultimately be counterproductive to your progress. Carve out some time weekly to do a relaxing activity like camping, fishing, watching movies or family time. This will greatly improve your productivity for the next week. Also remember to have some time to yourself, take vacations and have work-free days in your schedule.

Stress can ruin your relationship with both current and potential clients, so, learn to manage it to the best of your capabilities.

Make a schedule that works for you and stick to it. It may be difficult at first but your body will eventually get used to it. You will quickly be able to finish tasks if you know what needs to be done.

Schedule your personal life as well. Set aside time for family, friends, weekend activities and vacations. Therefore you will look forward to it and this will motivate you to manage your time well.

5. Get the Right Amount of Sleep

Most adults get inadequate sleep, this is even more true for entrepreneurs. The American Sleep Association recommends the following for good sleep hygiene which are good habits to promote a better night’s sleep:

  • Wake up and go to sleep at the same time every day
  • Avoid naps
  • Don’t lie awake in bed for more than 5-10 minutes
  • Don’t read or watch TV in bed
  • Avoid substances that interfere with sleep (caffeine, cigarettes, alcohol)
  • Make your bedroom comfortable

6. Get Frequent Health Checkups

Preventive appointments will detect problems at an earlier stage before they become worse. Schedule your appointments in advance so that they don’t clash with your work. Use reminders so that you don’t miss those appointments. Some regular check-ups are:

  • Dental cleaning/exam: Every six months
  • Full physical: Once a year
  • STD screening: Once a year
  • Eye exam: Every two years
  • Mammogram: Every two years for women aged 40+
  • Pap smear: Every three years
