Having a marketing plan also means that entrepreneurs can prepare themselves both mentally and practically in the event that they run into troubles or unexpected scenarios. Being prepared is the first step to being successful.

3. Mitigate Risks

Every entrepreneur takes risks by deciding to pursue a venture which they know may not work out, or could offset them financially. You may have a great business idea that’s never been done before, a safe and comprehensive business plan and you may have even mitigated the risks; but none of this will come to much if you don’t know how to pitch your business to clients, customers or investors.

Great pitches must be powerful and attention grabbing (for the right reasons!). They should be concise, able to accurately communicate the value your business will offer to those who it serves. Test out your pitch on a completely cold audience. That is: Practice in front of friends and family who may not know much about your niche or industry. Do they understand it? Would they be tempted to find out more, or even buy?

Elevator pitches are brief, well structured speeches that clearly convey a business idea or model and can be used anywhere to anyone – hence the name! It’s a one sentence tag line that can interest and intrigue any audience, and it’s important to craft it perfectly.

6. Visualize Your Success
